Day Eight....Leaving the Galliee, and travelling to Jerusalem

Where Jesus' body was lain to prepare for burial. This is in the area of the Holy Burial site.

Tonight we walked through the Old City. It was underground, had all kinds of shops, and was only about 10 to 15 ft wide.

Water

Herod built this aqueduct from Mt Carmel to Caesarea to supply fresh water for his palace, including a swimming pool that could host 1200 people!!

Carsarea

City was right on the Mediterranean Sea. Water is beautiful!

Caesarea

Herod built this city to impress Caesar. It took 20 yrs. And covered 160 acres! This theater was part of it. Wow!

Fish

They raise a lot of fish on fish farms like this.

Going down

It took us 1 1/2 hrs. To walk down. Elijah called fire from heaven on top. Then he ran down the Mt. And 18 miles!!

Mt Carmel

This is view on top, showing fertile Jesreel valley.

Water

Herod had a tunnel dug 120 ft deep and 220 ft long to supply water. We walked thru the tunnel! Amazing!

Baal worship

Sadly the Hebrew people made idols and sacrificed children here. God destroyed the city.

Horses

Solomon used this for some of his horses and chariots. This could hold 450 horses.

Megiddo

3rd oldest ruins in the world here going back 5,000 years or so.

Sea of Galilee
